Hey now just a little review for the movies. But i enjoyed it so much i feel like taking notes.

Suprisingly they announced a few weeks ago they would screen July 5th in a bunch of cities in movie theaters in Germany on July 6th. This shit never happens for anybody else. Never ever even for the Stones. So i was super suprised and decided to attend a movie theater in Hamburg for the show. The band has played this city once 25 years ago.

I had been thinking about going to chicago in January, even checked how much plane and hotel was but decided i was to old for a trip without a ticket. I bought a moped instead.

Yesterday i took the moped and rode 44 miles along the river into the big city. That took me like 3 hours. Today i rode back on the other side of the river and got back after 24 hours. I am tired and my body hurts, just couldn't let it go.

I arrived at the theater kind of in time and went in when the Rider transition started. Great sound. Phil very prominent with the subwoofers. About 60 folks atttending, quite a few whose faces i knew from differnt jam band gigs over the last few years.
Some clapping some cheering after the songs some applause after the movie. I walked out for a smoke and came back in when Trey ripped Throwing. One of of the songs i had hoped to avoid. But anyway very enjoyable Trey solo. I did not bother to walk back to my seat but stayed standing kind of first row to the screen grooving much more than expected to songs i had hoped to avoid.

I liked Cassidy best. But i could not hear Hornsby well (i was Trey side). He was in the band when i saw a show the first time. I had really been looking forward to his Bach like piano meditations. Cassidy had a bit of that. But he contributed way less than i had hoped for.

I went to the show with a buddy i went to the first show 25 years ago with. So this came around like in a circle after all these years. Thanks for the nice movie, be carful what you do with the 15 bucks i paid for the ticket and bye bye Grateful Dead.

The final show, emotional, exhilarating, the last musical dance for the "core four" surviving members that were there from the beginning at every Grateful Dead show since 1965. So much more than words can tell.

thank you ladies, thank you gents. thank you John Barlow, thank you Bob Hunter. everyone: very nice oeuvre. So too thank you's to the late Mssrs. Robert Peterson, McKernan, Garcia, Godchaux, Mydland, and Welnick.

freakn tops perfect'o choosings for the finale-second-set:

got my chips cashed in ... get out of the door light out and look all around;

faring thee well now let your life proceed by its own design ... let the words be yours;

talking a lot about less and less and forgetting the love we bring;

ay will not forgive you if you will not take the chance;

{{{ billy! billy & mickey! mickey! }}}.

forgiveness is the key to every door ... unbroken chain of you and me;

hearts of summer held in trust;

love is real ...

the a b c's we all think of try to give a little love;

in the book of love's own dream ...

;)

Except Mickey left the band for a number of years after it was discovered his father ripped off the band.

Was just watching a nice video of this show and caught Phil motioning with his arm to an empty space on the stage during the "like an angel, standing in a shaft of light" line in Estimated. Either that or he was pointing at Trey...
