I think CRs voice would be suited to busting out Brent tune; I was thinking Blow Away perhaps.

I'd love to hear Chinatown Shuffle while we're at it, and wish we could get a reprise of at least one Black Crowes song this tour. Wiser Time sounded great last December.

wish I could be at these shows. have fun and travel safe!

Thanks - going Saturday and want to prepare.

Very nice show. Highlights for me were Cumberland, and Unbroken > Wheel. Great place...

One complaint: Sugaree completely deflated the crowd. This should be a mid-first setter, imo.

Eleven, TOO, and Caution all tomorrow! Woohoo!

wow!!!!! I'd have to say it was a number of steps above "very nice." From Cold Rain through Cumberland there was an energy and a quality that matched any Phil show I've seen. At the set break, my buddy with 100+ GD shows starting in 72 said to me it was one of the best sets he's seen. Now we were caught up in the moment, but there were alot of stunned folks!

It was my third show of the tour and was the best of three grate shows - Reading and Fairfax were the others. The energy in the second set wasn't as consistent but its a real good set with lots of highlights. China> Rider was tight and powerful. Doin That Rag had all the old timers singing along. Mts of the Moon was chilling - Phil can really sing that with a special touch. UBC Wheel were also highlights. Actually, wheel took the roof off. I know Sugaree has been elevated to a level we're not used to. In honor of Jerry this has been showcased often since 95 by TD, RD, and PHIL. I have no trouble with that.

Barry was on fire all night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One more 1st set thought - Cumberland took me places its never taken me before. It was frantic and wonderful.

THANKS PHIL for keeping the train rolling.

Love ya all.

night.

Without Jimmy, you can really hear how well Barry handles the Jerry stuff.

Security can be a pain...be smart and you'll have no problems...go early and get on line at like 5:30-6 and you'll be up front and not deal with as heavy a search either (YMMV)...OR...eat in the HOB restaurant beforehand and get treated to the VIP entrance; which will get you in without as heavy a search and inside BEFORE everyone else...can you say RAIL?

Was Barry playing a Wolf or at least a Martin guitar last night. The tone was extremely Jerry like and the guitar certainly looked like one of the old Jerry axes. Great show. i enjoyed Cowboy Movie and This Wheel is on Fire but it did deflate some of the insane energy of the China>Rider opener. The Unbroken Chain was awesome! I enjoyed the show and loved Mookie's work especially on Cumberland. That being sad I still miss Jimmy.

First set was spectacular, especially the acoustic/ bazouki part, 2nd set started great, evened out, after Unbroken it felt kinda deflated, yes, Sugaree was a weak closer when they hadn't done anything really "big" in the 2nd set. Still the playing is hot and consistent, more so than the beginning of the tour. This show was similar to Albany in a lot of respects (similar 2nd set w/o any "big" tunes). Was great hangin' out up front w/the MidySwell zoner crew and being a border guard for the FOB-er's - I can at least help in some small way - the best part was scaring them 'cause to them I was too wasted and they didn't want me boppin' my head around - they were very lucky Bobby from CT was there to absorb the 2 white russians and 3 beers the drink girl spilled all over his shirt or it woulda been in their gear. Jeez there are actually people in the world more uptight and geeky than me! Maybe tonight I'll invite The Whistler up there!

I saw Boston and Wallingford and never even noticed he was gone. Both guitarists did a fantastic job. I wish Barry didn't sound so much like Jerry, but he's still really good and this band is truly fantastic.

wow! what a magical night! The Reuben>Cumberland, China>Rider reached some of the most intense musical moments i've ever experienced. Unreal!!!

on my way to the show...i befell a series of calamities...

first...on 287 in ny...an oncoming snowplow kicking up a huge rooster tail threw a chunk of ice in the air that took my side-mirror clean off...wtf!

then...after crossing the gw bridge...between the sloppy road-splatter on my windshield...and the glare due to the setting sun...i lost the trail and drove an hour west in the wrong direction...i had no choice but to turn around and go back to newark...another hour

then...an additional mistake cost me another hour...grand total...6 hours for a three hour trip

still got to the show on time...:-)...great show!

leaving atlantic city in the morning...i stopped for gas...and just at the moment i opened my car door to get out...BOOM!...a teenager speeding on a low-rider bicycle came short-cutting between the cars parked at the pumps...BOOM!...he hit my door precisely as i opened it...(had i a side-mirror i might have seen him)...well BOOM!...he flew over the handle-bars and landed on the hood of the lady's car next to me...and the bicycle laid a long scratch down the side of her car

he got up un-hurt and starts screaming at me as if he had the right way...typical self-centered teenage response...of course i screamed back...typical pissed-off motorist response

the lady whose car was damaged must have been a gambler...because she quickly assessed the situation and ascertained that she was fucked

the kid wasn't going to pay for it...i wasn't at fault...and the station owner was likely not liable...we both had a good laugh when her last effort to salvage some recovery was to ask for a free tank of gas

i left atlantic city with a three hour drive back to connecticut ahead of me...expecting for a house to be dropped on me along the way

thank goodness that was the end of the calamities

Had really high expectations after the nasty 11-22 show,

Once again Phil has proved to be the ever lasting bar raiser.

The escape from the Manhattan was hard fought. A bit of redemption by DJ Bones during a cool ride down through Jersey included 9-20-90. The Brown Eyed Women crackles with energy after the 1st verse, major visuals of the MSG crowd swirling around seemed so real to me. It’s the “we want Phil chant”> Greatest Story intro that I’ve been geekin’ over as of late. The crowd didn’t get a Phil tune but Healy teed Phil up nice and loud for the fucking sick mini bombing run during Greatest Story intro jam BUMMM BUMMM BUMMMM BUM BUM BUM MOSES COME RIDING UP ON A QUASAR

Anyway, arrived later than we would have liked, made the mistake of skipping dinner and pretty much hit the show straight away.

A big part of my night happened right before the lights went down. A celebratory shot was decided to be had by Lites, Sloboyle (it was damn nice to meet you bro) and myself. The bar tender handed us a freakin ½ a glass of Jameson each…we all looked at each other as we knew trouble was looming BUT whaddya gonna do?! Sacked up and down the hatch it went...eventually

Cold Rain was nice but much of the song was spent preparing the head and getting used to out spot up near the bottom of the left stack. I was a bit apprehensive about being in the covered portion of the floor but the stacks were hanging low and wound up booming the sound all over the joint...no fuckin worries indeed!!!

Ahhh Rag was what I was looking for!!! Phil getting the 60’s flowing was big fun but it was the last line that was immense. Phil had leaned back and shot this prodding look at Chris for the final “doooooin that rag”. The laughingly crazy look in his eyes was one for the ages and something that I’ll never forget.

Deal melted away any and all rat race induced stress, really felt the crowd grooving to the nice extended jams and trade offs. Mookie was turned up much louder than he was at the NJPAC...found that to be a real good thing

…:::MOTM:::… As a very loud advocate with regards to the virtues of Phil’s singing I know that it’s expected of me to say how good he sounded. Still though, he sounded sooooo cosmically awesome on this one that even if you take the subjectivity out of it “his voice was like an instrument” as Peggy put it. So glad he dropped this on us..THANK YOU PHIL!!!!!

Tumbleweed was nice and has really been growing on me. One of my buddies had eaten a bit too much too fast at this point and felt that a seat (on the floor!!) was needed. The funny thing is he had just turned to me maybe 10 seconds before and said “I’m pretty gone so don’t forget about me”. This guys a veteran and I knew he would snap out of it shortly so I wasn’t terribly concerned. I did decide to try a little humor to perhaps snap him back to at least a bit of reality, said to him “I know Chris Robinson sucks but THIS is ridiculous”. He was soon fine…no credit was given to my joke. ‘Twas just a joke…

The Reuben was a testament to the fact that Chris is getting more and more dialed in as the tour has gone on, the band had a real nice elegant flow going

Cumberland!!!!

Yeah it was the Cumberland that sent this set into the land of the insane. I was screaming about the Molo breakdown to anyone who would listen all day Saturday. Before the last verse he just completely tore it down until the whole band was just looking at him like “yeah dude, lets get it the FUCK on” Phil was certainly nodding his approval with a fair amount of enthusiasm.

Had fun dancing during the second set but things were most definitely hazy by that point, too much Jameson and beer on an empty stomach doomed my memory.

Woke up in a fine mood as the pre-game and show loomed…just one of those days where you are more than certain that everything is going to work out in a perfect manner. I was also glad to hear that the Zoner bar for getting wasted at the show had been officially set so low (by 2 worthy individuals) that I needn’t worry about my spotty memory during the second set :-O

the 12/10 show left such an indelible mark that it may well take me a while to get together

RELEASE THE HOUNDS:::::::.......
