He doesnt slap. if you listen to DWD from 1999-04-17 he just picks it. he even says in an interview that mike gordon was probably screaming with fright when he heard the intro not slapped

You gotta let your ears grow a little, Ed, the RA stuff is so not bad and so not going away -- I can see if Phil was embracing Wycleff Jean or Outkast -- but he's going to a guy who writes groovy stuff, loves to open it up and is what, 30, 31 years old?

I guess Ricky Nelson was right....

just got back. what a show. the jams were amazing, intense, and nice and looooong. trey sounded great and worked really well playing off all the other players. you got the sense that they were really working together as one a few times.
show started off great. help-slip-franklins had great energy. that kept going until phil had everyone stop cold rain and snow. but that only lasted a few seconds and the loose lucy was fantastic. sounded more like the version on mars hotel than anything i've heard live in years. had that sort of weird shuffle drumming going on.
2nd set was just amazing IMHO. lots and lots of jams that just seemed to go on forever. and they changed shape drastically every several minutes, as if they were inventing entire new songs, not just improvising and taking solos. great riffs and stuff all over the place.
cannnot wait to see what the rest of the week brings.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By marc marcman (Marcman) on Monday, February 13, 2006 - 01:27 am: Edit Post

I'd say the theater was about 80% full. I asked a couple of different people working there and pretty much they estimated about 80%.

Thinking that there were going to be a few no shows, instead of grabbing my left orch row s seat under the over hang, i grabbed me seat 109 Row D (8th row right in the middle) and amazingly nobody came and I got to stay.

The highlight of the first set had to be TLEO. What a screaming hot jam at the end of that one.

St Stephen to open the second set was mind blowing and Cryptical was fucking sweet. I thought for sure they were going into Truckin just before TOO - which was also top notch.

They couldn't get Trey's guitar to work for almost all of GDTRFB, it was pretty funnywatching the two guys plugging and unplugging wires trying to fix the problem, after a while even Phil was looking over all concerned, but they fixed it all up I guess.

I've been hearing a bunch of negatives about Joan, and I gotta say I think she's a real nice fit . . . she gets her chance to sing up front, but shes doing much more background vocals than lead singing, and when she does sing, she does a nice job, on songs like Lovelight and tonight on Midnight Hour. I like that little strut she does to the front of the stage, why not I figure, she looks to be having a great time and thats what its all about.

All in all I have to rate last night's show higher, but TLEO in the first set and pretty much the whole second set was tremendous.

I've been here holes up in the Sheraton since Friday, and hopefuly no weather related issues tomorrow at the airport I'm going back down south.

I really feel like I got my moneys worth, last night and tonight were two for the ages.

I have a question that maybe somebody can answer for me . . . I was never into phish or trey, although I did see him for the first time last year when he sat in at the benefit concert during the ABB run at the Beacon. I thought he was excellent and I like what I hear from him on Sirius 17 . . . but tonight was the first time I got to see him up close for a whole show . . . what's with the funny faces he makes all night?

Doesn't he know that if he makes too many funny faces his face could freeze and then he'd have to walk around like that for the rest of his life?

yes, sless and trey were soundchecking doing some weird soundscape before 8PM. I got to my seat at 7:40 and they were already up there, stage was dark. sipe came out to play as well, making circular motions on his cymbals that sounded cool, kind of a screeching noise. they walked off just before 8PM.

great show by the way, the watchtower was sick.

The buzz from this run is going to carry us all to alot of shows this year, I think.

What Phil has done here is nothing short of incredible.

I feel humbled by his vision.

I Hope everyone got home safe tonight from the show!

And thx to Taper Rob for doing what he does.

You made my night w/ the pix and setlists...again.

CHENEY ACCIDENTALLY ATTENDS A PHIL LESH & FRIENDS SHOW

Actual Real Headline: Cheney accidentally shoots a fellow hunter

Just back from a show that was different from Friday night. (I missed Saturday.) For one thing, Trey Anatasio from Phish played the whole concert. I never was into PHISH (and I possess none of their albums) but he did a tremendous job jamming on both lead and rhythm guitar. They also played "Dark Star." Not including Jerry Garcia Band, Bob Weir, and Phil Lesh, I've seen over 50 Grateful Dead shows and a dozen Dark Star Orchestra shows, and tonight was my very first "Dark Star."

Kudos to marc marcman (Marcman) who posted that his pal from L.I. couldn't make the show due to the blizzard, and that the orchestra seat was up for grabs. I was the lucky first caller, and marc was a man of his word. What I saved on the ticket I gave to your friendly neighborhood Beacon Theater Bar Wench. That's only fair, and after buying Marcman one at said Beacon Theater Lobby Bar, and a nice chat, he disappeared into 8 row center. Thanks, marc, MY FIRST DARK STAR!!

wow. Glad I braved the Long Island Expressway!

The setlist hardly does this show justice. I was at Friday night and was mostly bored with what felt like a slow, ploddy, spacy show. Not tonight. The long jams between songs were epic, they built, changed direction/key on a dime, and built again. Like someone said above, it was if they were writing new music. Trey and Joan totally vibed each other, great harmonies on Eyes. Joan rocked Watchtower. Other One was unreal, it sounded like they were toeing the line between Truckin' and Other One for about 3 minutes, finally Phil stepped up and rolled the intro and let the low note just shake and reverberate. He also changed up the phrasing on the verse which was really cool. Hopefully Phil will release this SBD

WOW! What an awesome show. Thanks MattO for the ride, man. No way was I going to trudge on teh subway there after a week long illness but you came through and picked me up. That's just what I needed to go from being sick to being well. If I had stayed home I would still be on the sick side of the line.

Trey was amazing. I've seen him once with Phish, once with his band and a few times at other events and found his playing to be boring. Not last night. I guess playing with Phil pushed him to excel. His playing added an element of outness.

Sipe is incredible. Totally different style than Molo but great just the same. He is a jazz drummer where Molo is a power drummer.

I loved the restyling of some of the vocals, too and I especially loved the outness. Man, some of the out jams were free jazz at its best.

Well, time to get to work and catch up.

WOW!

I think they almost had to to tie Rob down to keep him in his seat. Trey , Phil, Joan Campbell freaking amazing! Joan is awesome anyone on her case must be tone deaf.

I thought Sat would have been it and no need to see others but that was truly amazing last night.

Wow...some of you found some good dope last night.

This may be a big insult, but the final Dead show at Giants Stadium was better, and I thought that was one of worst shows I've ever attended.

It was a sad night. So much talent on one stage and wasted. Trey played one note over and over and then would hold it for more. No one seemed to know the somes hence nearly every transition was missed(and painfully obvious). I'm not a huge Trey fan, but the '99 shows he showed some chops, but this he just seemed content with playing one note and doing CC Deville moves at the front row and stepping all over Larry. Larry would start to go for a solo and Trey would just turn up and squash him. At one point during "What Sin" it was obvious that Larry was not taking it well and he stepped up and squashed Trey...at which point Trey stopped his "Uh...I'm gonna c.." face and looked right at Larry with a "WTF?" glance.

Sipe was 1000% better last night than Friday. It really showed on H>S>F and Other One.

Barry was sorely missed last night

No I was fine, it was just a terrible show. Tickets are expensive for some of us, so you expect a certain level of play for $50. I guess if you were "messed up" it might have been better, but it could not stand on its own. Unfortunate, but these things happen. I just don't believe in fluffing a show just because it was Phil & Trey.

"it was a sad night"?? - i think you are out of your mind. Obviously if you are not a Trey fan you would not have enjoyed last night's show. I think most people in the audience, however, were VERY happy to hear him play.

I sat 8th row center and Larry and Trey were smiling at each other the whole time as they were trading leads. Everyone was definitely comfortable playing with each other, and Phil did a great job of leading the band through the songs.

Trey took many of the songs to new exhilirating new directions, and I was happy to see that they he didn't hold back on his leads. This show was one for the ages. One of the best TLEO I have ever heard.

I missed Barry, but he'll be back.

This makes like 10 PLF shows for me, and I have to rate him 10 for 10. If you bring the right mood to the show, you're bound to have a good time.

And, bound to cover just a little more ground.

Shout out to Aardvark, Negman, and Butchie Weiss, my newest Zoner friend.

Finally, I wish Phil would start these shows at 7 so that work would be just a little bit easier.

I won't go so far as Spliffy to say "sad" but I know what he's getting at. There were definitely many amazing high points (St Stephen was SICK!), but plenty of times when it really did not swing, and Trey was outright spaced off the map a few times. He'd take the reins and then meander off the ranch, and one time when Larry finished and passed him the baton they just floundered there because Trey missed the cue and didn't notice that Larry had finished. (I didn't think Trey listened very well in general). After a minute or so Larry looked at Phil and shrugged and cranked up his solo again.

Not a big deal, 's all good, I had a blast. There are always gonna be slow klunky moments with this kind of improv and pickup bands, and there were plenty last nite. First time seeing Trey for me, I started out amazed, but he seems to swing for the fences every time? I had football metaphors going too (Anastasio had an amazing game last nite, threw a touchdown every time he touched the ball, passed for 4,517 yards and won the game 367-0, incredible!) I like to see the tight end get the ball once in a while. Or back to baseball, hit-and-run. Still, he did have them really on fire and in the stratosphere a few times. I thought Larry shredded great a bunch of places too.

Should be interesting nights coming up?!? See y'all on Friday...

6strings and a pick....amazing

trey has a full bag of tricks, very cool attitude, and great vibe....BUT as a musician his chops are limited and he doesnt listen. LC was very generous last nite...he could totally play rings around the man technically, but didnt try to ...trey was a constant sourse of amusement to both Phil and Larry..that alone made this a fine show..smiles!!!! Trey deserves his props as an iconic culural figure, not a small feat,he is also a really expressive song writer..keep on bouncing

Remeber, "...you are the eyes(and ears) of the world..."

My world has been a Phil and Friends fantasy since this past Friday. Snowed-in in NYC with my wife and Phil, doesn't get much better for me.

The shows were good, better and even better, somehow, for both me and my wife. We are both pretty tough critics and she hates Phish. She loved Trey last night as she saw his playing as thoughtful and not overdone. Tasteful. Just like Sipe's playing.

I cannot wait for the next show. To see and hear how Phil will blow me away next.

Maybe he is softening us up for RA? LOLx10

Spliffy dude you must have had a bad day.

I am not Phish fan and have only seen Trey when he shows up at others events. So also not a big Trey fan.

I was near straight a just a few cocktails early on and I have seen more then plenty of Dead shows and no way was the last two Dead Tours anything near what they did last night with energy. Man Jerry was too tired near the end and it showed. I was at that Giants Stadium show HO HUM

A mistake here and there missed cue big deal. Bobby and Jerry always f'd up lyrics, missed cues, bobby constantly stepping on jams etc...

That was pure energy last night regradless of the missteps.

I agree, it funny last tour people where writing reviews that larry was stepping all over barry, now its trey stepping on larry. In the end there will always be people who just have to complain it is in there nature. To say there must of been good drugs to enjoy that show is the most ignorent statement I have ever heard. no drugs, great show and I am sure a lot people feel the same way. all they did was a soundcheck togehter. of course there gonna miss some transitions and flub some lyrics. but if you really thought last night show was sad then I suggest you pack in your phil gear and stop going. to compare that show to giants 95 is retarted. plus you must be a mind reader, because you just look at people faces and tell what they are saying to each other. last night rocked plain and simple with and without any drugs.

Buckets of Rain was definitely a highlight, excellent harmonizing on all the lyrics by Trey and Joan, really nice guitar work, and Larry on the Mando with Trey doubling "mando-like". Very tasty.

Trey had some great stuff, I imagine Phil and Larry just agreed to let him run, he was the special guest after all. Larry got a few good runs in.

TLEO was very different, much like the earlier ones (70s?). Missed the changes on the jams there, which just hung on the root instead of moving up for those classic Jerry circular lines.

As for the Ryan - Bobby thing, that's just right on. The most recent Bobby controversy on the board here makes it seem like Bobby bashing was a new hobby particular to zoners. It's been going on forever. Bobby always did bring lots of cute chicks into the circle, and quite a few good tunes too.

First Playin' that a caught with this band the other night.

No Larry on the Pedal yet this week?

Trey made the show last night. Thats not to say everyone else wasnt on,cuz they were. Best I've EVER heard Campbell, though I wish he'd put the fiddle away and just rip on the guitar more, and Joan was singing beautifully. Aptq258 made me not miss Molo, and everything Headband does is perfect w/ Phil. But Trey made it exciting. This wasn't hippie groove/trance music like I've been hearing from this band lately. This was alive, moving, shifting, danger around the bend, take chances type stuff. A very solid first set gave way to an absolute mind blender second. St. Stephen was off the hook, and the jam between Cryptical and Dark Star was one of the best I've ever heard.
Y'all can hate on Trey all you want, but last night that show was amazing BECAUSE he was there.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Andrew Weiss (Butchweiss) on Monday, February 13, 2006 - 02:48 pm: Edit Post

I attended P + F Friday and Saturday and had no intentions of going to Sunday's show, what with work on Monday and such. Well the blizzard came and here I was relaxing in my apartment at 6:30, when a friend on this board (Surfside- Thanks!) suggested I go and grab a cheap ticket. I thought to myself "Why the hell not? I am a teacher and school will probably be cancelled today." Sure enough I got the call for school cancellation right after I secured my $15 orchestra seat. Things were turning up Millhouse!

As I entered the Beacon, I ran into a buddy who let me know Trey was in the house and he had just been up on stage working out some stuff with Barry Sless. I quickly dropped my brother a line and he managed to hightail to the Beacon to enjoy the festivities.

Onto the show:
Help>Slip>Franklin's-
What can I say, it was my second in three nights, but who the hell am I to complain about my favorite trifecta. It started out a tad slow, with everyone getting their bearings. Barraco sang "Help" and Trey seemed a bit hesitant up until Slipknot. Phil was a bit muddles in the mix, especially after his prominence throughout the weekend. As the band shifted towards "Slipknot!" the energy began to rise. Larry Campbell and Trey seemed to be feeling each other out, which made for some tasty interplay. Barraco and Trey were grinning at one another all night long and appeared to have really made a connection. After a too short Slipknot, Franklin's emerged and was played with some more gusto than its former counterparts. We were on our way...

Cripple Creek: (Joan/Trey)
Nice! The Band is certainly my third favorite behind GD/Phish so it was a pleasant surprise. I love Phil's affinity for The Band. The chemistry between Joan and Trey was immediately recognizable and would continue throughout the evening. Joan was even making motions to accentuate Trey's solos. Campbell made some really contributions on this one as well.

>TLEO>CRS Jam
Wow, the highlight of the first set. Trey and Larry were on fire. TLEO had a jaunty- bouncy feeling somewhere between the early GD versions and the 90's JGB versions. It was truly something else. The CRS jam that emerged sent shivers up and down my spine. The band was now bubbling and pulsating and getting ready to slam into the lyrics when Phil cued up a stop in play. Hear this section of Set I at all costs!

Loose Lucy
"Thank you for a real good time" -- pretty much sums this up. Nothing extraordinary to speak of

Buckets of Rain: (Joan/Trey)
One of my favorite all time Dylan tunes. Joan and Trey sounded excellent together. They hugged for the first time immediately following the conclusion of this one

Watchtower: Dylan tune #2 and Campbell took this one and ran with it. This tune that seemed to bring his level of intensity up and for the rest of the show, he and Trey would challenge one another continually.

II: Phil was turned up for this set, which pleased me to nth degree.

St. Stephen:
Pure, unadulterated bliss! This version rocked so goddman hard. Barraco and Trey locked into one another and Phil bounced around the stage like a spry youngin'- His perma-grin was contagious! The jam before the last verse was a precursor of things to come. I heard teases of the Eleven, GDTRFB, and Bird Song in the jam. The Beacon's famous rocking balconies were now in full effect! Jut hearing Phil pop and play behind Trey was truly a sound to behold!

What Sin:
7th Ryan Adams played in 3 nights. I love RA and find it very interesting Phil does as well. Campbell played lead on this one, as it was obvious Trey had only a brief run through on this tune, but hey, Trey playing with Phil doing RA, how many times is that going to happen?! It was a nice bluesy jam that came out of the last verse and I knew the meat of the set was coming (similar to the previous nights where the RA second set tunes preceded the set's madness)

Jam>Cryptical>Jam
YES!!! The highlight of the show for me. These jams were extremely unique. They didn't sound GD-ish nor Phish-y, but something new, something fresh, which sounded composed at times it was so good. The Trey/Campbell duo was now firing on all cylinders, with Phil bouncing and rolling along.
Jam #1 was blues-based with a beautiful section before the segue into Cryptical. I heard nearly 6 different teases during this jam, so I simply stopped guessing at this point. Jam # 2 was different. It started very rock-based, with hints of GDTRFB, but quickly shifted to a middle-eastern flavored jam that hinted at HC Sunshine. It spiraled off and the band began to groove, I mean really groove. Trey chopping out some interesting rhythm licks and Campbell playing some crazy Psychedelic cowboy style lead and Phillip just killing his bass. I mean killing it!

Dark Star(v1)> Jam>
The Other One> Jam>
Dark Star(v2)> Jam

I'm not even going to try here. Larry played violin and the band entered another galaxy. I know some wanted more songs and some were unhappy with the vocals on DS and Other1 (Phil lost his voice), but this was majestic in all respects. I almost jumped through the ceiling when DS began. I'm pretty sure I will be on the tapes! I yelled 'YES' as soon as I heard Phil's famous thumps! The jams were again quite unique, especially with Larry on violin. This brought a different texture and allowed Trey to begin to dominate. As the Other1 reared it head, I began to prepare myself, but it was no use. Phil THUNDERED the licks to TOO and the entire band immediately raised the energy level, so much so that it sounded like there were 10 people on stage. I have not heard much like the music played in these jam segments. I'm sure people will bitch, because that's what they do, but I found it to be not only spine-tingling, but almost orgasm-inducing. I am not one to pour heaps of praise on something that does not deserve it, but this run of songs was truly beyond the pale.

Eyes>Gdtrfb
Eyes was very well played and the three part harmonies sounded great. Joan joined Trey for the second and third verses and they went off w/o a hitch. What could have been the jam to end jams for the night was marred by Trey's technical issues during GDTRFB. This was made up by Campbell's quick thinking and Trey's willingness to make light of a shitty situation. Trey rejoined the band, sans guitar, and sang the coda to GDTRFB. He wore a shit-eating grin for the entire portion.

Gimmie Shelter:
Unexpected and pretty rocking.

Encore:
Wolfman's (My buddy called it)- It was fun to hear and by this point after three straight nights I was exhausted. Joan again joined Trey on vocals and did an admirable job. No real jam to speak of.

Midnight Hour: Trey interjected and introduced Danny Clinch to play harp and thanked Phil for the opportunity. He said he had a great time. Joan did some fun rap type stuff here and the jam was just getting started, but Phil appeared to pull the reigns back a bit to end it.

All in all, an amazing experience and one I will cherish forever. Trey and Phil are my favorite living musicians and to see them share the stage is truly the stuff dreams are made of.

whats not making sense. You must be a mind reader if you can tell what people are thinking just from standing in the audience. Maybe you needed some drugs to enjoy that show, many people, including myself, did not.

Nice review Butch- I completely agree, the show was an exhilarating experience I will not forget.

Out of curiousity, how do you remember such specific details- did you just listen to a stream of the show as well?

I gotta say the st stephen, cryp>jam I am streaming now is awesome....damn.

I like ARU, Phish, Dylan, and all of the above mentioned artists...and I like many of the things trey does. However, he does grimace alot, which was distracting for me up close at CAT. I kept thinking it was the grimace you make when you screw something up or when you smell something bad (even when I was digging what I was hearing). I wonder if he preps the other folks in the band? 'guys, dont worry if I look like this =>:^(>...it just means i'm diggin it. i'm a freak like that.'

peace,
Chris

David,
In response to your question, I seem to have a knack for remebering jams and such. I tend to take mental notes and immediatley following a show I will jot down some points. I also write down the setlist during the show with some notes.

BTW, Trey's grimaces are a part of his Elmo charisma. It's like he is feeling the music in his face. He does resemble Elmo, doesen't he?

I missed Barrys tasty fills last night I felt like I went to a p&phriens show and a Trey A. show broke out
He was up front all night L arry I think stepped out in the 2 set once not much interplay larry and trey.
The set list was great, loved the harmoneys, and joan on midnight was fun,
I dont mind guests because it is an friend but can we just all play together?
I guess for the under 35 crowd last night was a dream for us" FOPS" (#$%#$ OLD people) it was missing somthing.

I missed the first set. I thought the second set paled in comparison to Saturday (but then again, so do virtually all concerts I've ever been to...)I guess it was on par with Friday, but preferred Friday more. Most of the jams last night seem pretty unfocused and meandering to me. They could have done a lot more with that setlist.

This show was an absolute Monster. Larry Campbell and Trey peeled the freakin paint off the walls of the Beacon with seering feverish phsycadelic jams all night!. Phil let it be known that there were two storms in NYC, one blowing 2 ft drifts outside and one blowing minds inside!!!! Joan sounded awesome.

Trey played his ass off, i have to hand it to him, i never seen him before but he really put it out there. The show was off the chain bizaree rocking nutso otherone darstar bliss. Ive seen many great shows, hundreds, this one goes in the top five, in dont care what happened saturday night, Sunday was the shizzle!!!!

Insect Music.....

Don't see it mentioned, but there was a distinct Big RR Blues jam at some point in the first set.
Too bad they did not follow thru and lose the Loose Lucy.

I find it funny that people are affected by the faces people make while playing music. My suggestion - CLOSE YOUR EYES and HEAR the music. And while your at it - Don't sing - LISTEN.

I promise you will get far more from your experience!!!!!!!

its hard to believe you could think this show was bad...it was so cool to see musicians creating music spontaneously...they were'nt stepping over each other, they've never played together before, it took some awkward moments to get there but they always did...it was like cooking a dish, adding this adding that, and then all of a suddden you have this new taste...it was so much energy, and so much pure improvising...with the place only 80% full and surviving the trip from the lehigh valley with so much snow in pa made it seem like we deserved a masterpiece and we got one..it was sloppy and weird at times, but that is what is so cool, seeing creation unfolding in front of you...new music and new twists...Phil was sooooooo happy to be watching Trey jam and prance around...Trey's harmonies with Joan were stellar, especially buckets of rain and eyes...the jam after Cryptical was so out there, like Miles jazz or space with the dead, then the Dark Star was so dark and chaotic and the jams in between all songs in the second set were darker and more ambient like, unlike any i've experienced, Joans line at the end of her singing DS was so mezmerizing whil she was drowning in purple lights on the stage...and i understand the beauty of RA's tunes, they really are sweet and dylanish...the bashers should back off, he might be weird but his tunes are really good.

I've Seen RA and he's amazing live. You may want to check out some live stuff at: http://www.ryanadamsarchive.com/
Rumor has it he was supposed to play night one of the Beacon, but caught an early flight ahead of the blizzard to the UK for his tour that begins today. He may be at the last night or two of Philly.

>>>>>>>I find it funny that people are affected by the faces people make while playing music.

Hey man I'm not the one on the stage making the stupid faces, OR the jackass commenting on why somebody is asking an OBVIOUS question. I just found it odd that the dude spent the entire night playing with his face is all. And you find it funny that I noticed a grown man making faces for three and a half hours? I figured there are so many "phish-heads" on this board that I'd ask and see if maybe he has some kind of disease that causes facial ticks that I was unaware of, but mostly I just wanted to know if he always makes those faces or was he just doing it Sunday night. Thanks for the help, dude, you're definitely the one I want on my team for sure.

>>>>>>My suggestion

Whoa there cowboy, who in the hell asked for your suggestion about anything, and what in the hell did you read that I wrote that gave you the impression that suggestions were necessary?

Do you or do you not know if the dude makes faces every time he plays, or was Sunday night a special face making event?

Really if you don't know, you'd serve me (and probably everybody else) better simply by SingTFU, know wut ah mean, bud?

>>>>> - CLOSE YOUR EYES and HEAR the music. And while your at it - Don't sing - LISTEN.

Just what I need, a suggestion from some imbecile about how to attend and moreso how to act at a show. Perhaps you thought I needed to be educated because I don't know anything about Johnny come lately Trey Anastasio the mighty mighty phish guy. Buddy, I could go on and on about how phish absolutely RUINED the scene just by being a part of it, best thing about Trey is that now that he's done with that juvenile sounding B band Phish, he's finally making some decent music.

Your implications are insulting and considering that you know nothing about me, I'd say you were insulting yourself by showing off your ignorance more than anybody else.

>>>>>I promise you will get far more from your experience!!!!!!!

And I promise that if you park your car in the garage tonight and leave it running, and take a nap in the front seat with the windows rolled up tight, when the morning comes you'll be a better man than you are at present.

Get it?

>>>>>>By Tennessee Jed (Darkstar7) -- Kudos to marc marcman (Marcman) who posted that his pal from L.I. couldn't make the show due to the blizzard, and that the orchestra seat was up for grabs.
================================================

Hey Jed, don't mention it buddy, glad you were able to make it and even happier to hear about your first Dark Star! Ya know, I did come back to look for ya in Row S after I called in to home, but you were gone so I mosied on over to the center orchestra and plucked out a seat (row D 109 to be exact). Luck was on my side too that night Jed, call it karma, but the dude sitting in 108 and the dude sitting in 110 were both there solo, and both bought their tickets at the box office about an hour before showtine, I guess becuase of the snow, nobody showed up top but seat 109. Great show Sunday, second set was awesome. First time I saw Trey since he sat in with the ABB at the Big House benefit.

Funny, I don't recall him making stupid looking faces all night then, so get this, I asked here on this board if there's a reason why he's making those silly faces all night long, like maybe that's part of his new act or something, and I get a reply with a lecture about how I'm supposed to act ata show and get this -- how I'm supposed to actually listen to the music while I'm at the show!

Man, some people have shrubbery where their head's are supposed to be.

Take care Jed, see ya at the next show somewhere . . . and best of luck with law school.

After you think to yourself that the shows could not get much better there is Sunday 2/12/06, the Blizzard of 06'. Damn, you guys put on a show that was so outstanding that I can't even put it into words! From the first note of Help On The Way to the last note of Midnight Hour you had the Beacon in awe. Trey fit in like a glove. He is fantastic! I can't say enough about Rob. He should be a permanent friend. I can't wait for Tuesday night. Thanks for the GREAT music!
WE LOVE PHIL.....

Cannot figure out how Phil got SO hoarse when a few songs earlier his voice was as clear as a bell. We heard him speak froggy ...

After all the glowing reviews of the shows from this tour, it was great to finally hear a download from the archive of this particualr night. All I can say is I'm floored by how good this band sounded at this show. Trey and Larry are totally in sync and on fire. Phil is booming the bombs, and Joan rocks.
I can't wait to hear some of the other nights from this tour. Phil is THE MAN!! Boy, I thought the last east coast tour with CR was really good but this edition is even better. Hot, hot, hot !!

it is a great show, good quality from archive.org but i want soundboard! anyway, now time has gone by...it was a day to remember, the 27" of snow, the way the city looked with all the snow,magical... the great spacey jammy show with Trey...unreal and sureal, and the Beacon is my favorite place ever, the Hammerstein paled in comparison...
