YEA THE NAMES ABOUT RIGHT.
THATS HOW MANY STARS ID GIVE IT.

BOOORRRRREDDDDDD TO TEARS!
SERIOUSLY.

OH AND WHAT ABOUT DONNA?
WELL SHE LOOKED GREAT. HER HAIR IS LONG AGAIN. UNFORTUNATELY SHE ONLY SHOWED UP ONSTAGE FOR 1 SONG IN THE FIRST 2 HOURS AND NEEDED A CHEAT SHEET TO REMEMBER THE WORDS TO THE MOST HOOOOORRRRIFIC FRANKLINS TOWER IVE EVER HEARD. (I MEAN REALLY, I BET EVERYONE ON THIS SITE KNOWS THE WORDS TO THAT SONG BY HEART.)

AND IM PISSED AT YOU. YEA YOU. I RELY ON YOU GUYS TO TELL ME WHATS GOOD AND BAD. HOW COULD YOU NOT WARN ME HOW LOUSY THIS BAND IS.

PURE CLUNKY NOISE.
AND WHEN SOME1 POSTS A WORST OF THREAD SOON, CONSIDER THIS NUMBER 1 NOMINATED!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH NOW SHSHSHSUSHI AND COMET O PAPA.9

there is this ZERO thing happening in new york on friday. everyone is going so i got myself a ticket too... I got a fall back plan though, the granola west coast bluegrass band HBR is playing late so i can still salvage the night if it sucks.

>EACH THEIR OWN

TRUE. ENJOY. BUT REMEMBER YOUVE BEEN WARNED.
I WISH I HAD BEEN.

ALSO WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE SHOW, I GOT THE VERY LAST SPOT IN THE VERY BIG PARKING LOT. IT WAS COMPLETELY FILLED. WHEN I LEFT THE SHOW AFTER 2 HOURS (IT WAS STILL GOING ON), THE PARKING LOT WAS HALF EMPTY.
EVERYONE WAS SPLITTING. I THINK THE MAJORITY FELT THE SAME WAY AS I DID.

Steve Kimock plays music to fall asleep by. This band should be called Fake Zero.

Kimock and Anton laid to waste one of San Francisco's most beloved musical institutions.

If you want to hear Zero get any number of their shows at the Maritime Hall in the late 1990's. Compare it with what they're calling Zero today where they certainly live up to their name.

No comparison.

>DONT YOU HATE KIMOCK REAPER?

WELL HATES A STRONG WORD. BUT AFTER LAST NIGHT I CERTAINLY WOULDNT GO SEE HIS BAND AGAIN.

AND AS A MATTER OF FACT, I WAS REALLY PSYCHED AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SHOW. I HAD BEEN WANTING TO SEE HIS BAND FOR AWHILE.
I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS ABOUT HIM. I HAD NEVER SEEN OR HEARD HIS BAND BEFORE LAST NIGHT.
I HAD SEEN HIM ONCE IN THE OTHER ONES AND THAT WAS A REALLY GOOD SHOW.

I agree with Reaper....they also bored me to tears and while everyone gives Fierro mad props i would honestly rather see Kenny G up there...only saving grace was to hear Gomorrah.

I won't see this band again.

>HAD YOUR MIND MADE UP BEFORE THE SHOW STARTED

SCARLETFIRE I HAD TO ADDRESS THIS SPECIFICALLY CAUSE I REALLY DONT GET IT.

WHY WOULD I TAKE THE TIME TO TAKE MY 1 SHOWER FOR THE WEEK, PUT ON MY 1 SET OF CLEAN CLOTHES AND DRIVE A REALLY LONG WAYS ON A WORK NIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORK WEEK TO SEE SOMETHING I DIDNT LIKE.

I ONLY GO TO SHOWS THAT I EITHER HAVE SEEN AND LIKED, HAVE HEARD AND LIKED OR AM INTERESTED IN SEEING CAUSE IVE READ ABOUT EM AND THINK I WILL LIKE IT. IM JACKED UP AND READY TO PARTY!

TO GO IN TO A SHOW WANTING NOT TO LIKE IT IS ABSURD AND PSYCHOTIC. IT DOESNT EVEN MAKE SENSE.

Is Bobby Vega on bass w/ Zero these Days? Did that fence ever get mended?

>VEGA

NOT VEGA ON BASS.

>MARTIN FIERRO

I AGREE WITH JELLYROLL. MAN I WAS PSYCHED TO SEE FIERRO AND I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED. HE SOUNDED AWFUL. I WAS SHOCKED.

BTW JELLY, WAS GOMORRAH THE ONLY OTHER SONG DONNA SANG. WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE HEARD THAT. BUT I LEFT. I COULDNT TAKE ANY MORE.

I second Emily's question!

For the record, I had two friends who attended one of Zero's recent shows at Cervantes and left after the first set because they said the vocals were awful and disliked the bass player.

I caught one show last year and had a good time, albeit not blown away or particularly moved.

No disputing from me here, Nick!

" Is Bobby Vega on bass w/ Zero these Days? Did that fence ever get mended?"

Bobby Vega is not on bass. Vega and Kimock did perform some shows but then Kimock cheated him on the loot. Don't expext Bobzilla to give him another chance.

Fini...

'reaper',jsut thought you may have had an idea about steve, and wouldnt let it go, i never knew you never heard or never saw him...my bad.

i havnt seen zero since 1994, they were GREAT then, im seeing them tommorow, im going in open minded...he is an acquired taste IMO, but alot of heads say he has no talent, i'll give you he may be a dick, and i dont care waht happened with phil, i just think he plays great guitar...

AND YEAH, WHY DO YOU SHOUT?

This is really lowering my expectations for tomorrow night, which is good. Kimock has always been hit or miss for me. I've seen him a few times where's he's put me to sleep and I've seen him a few other times where I was blown away. If it sucks I have no problem bailing and checking out most of the other great music in NYC tomorrow night.

Yeah it's been 10 years since I last saw Zero and this is a different band so I am curious to see what they are doing.

Nick are you talking about the recent KVMW shows in CO ? It is a shame that those two had a falling out. I just saw Vega with the Avalon Allatars and he was still Bobzilla, quite good ...

Kimock had some decent leads and Melvin shined in places but otherwise Zero was just not that good last night. Only time I've ever seen them (though I am a huge kimock band fan) so maybe it was typical evening. Sure it was fun enough for a wed night but if funds or time is tight, look elsewhere. The whole thing seemed like a bunch of musicians doing an impromtu jam. Lots of wasted time strumming, banging and honking with no real direction.

One of the biggest problems for me was that everytime Martin played it was loud and way too upfront. The sound of a sax can be easily heard even without a microphone and to have him so loud when hes just honking is distracting at best. I looked around and often saw folks with their fingers in their ears during his honking. There were moments when he played decently and deserved to be loud but not all the time.

Finally, I may have been to way too many jamband shows and are too familiar and sensitive to the end-of-jam tricks but having said that, every jam of zero ended with kimock working the high part of the guitar neck, the drummer banging the tomtom hard and the organ player, hitting the sustained high notes. Yes I have heard every jamband invoke this and have even enjoyed it from time to time but it was a crutch for zero jams.

" Nick are you talking about the recent KVMW shows in CO ?"

Those were the first shows that Kimock and Vega played together since Bobzilla pulled a "Kimock" at that High Sierra Music Festival. Besides calling the band KVMW, (which was never part of the deal), Kimock released the shows for a pay download without the knowledge or permission of the other players who will not get a dime. Vega, in particular, said it was the same old, same old from a guy who has always been a bottom feeder (or at least acts like one). Kimock is a gifted player when he wants to be but is sorely lacking in the human being department. His history is that he's burnt everyone who he's ever been with. And this started way before Phil Lesh too.

But don't believe some guy on an Internet chat board...ask the players. They'll burn off both your ears.

I understand the past history, in fact I know alot of it, as I been following them since '95, just didn't know this latest batch of BS. Such a shame as I really dig when the two of them play together. Oh well I guess this pretty much kills any chance of them ever playing together again, such a shame ...

On the positive side, Kimock and Vega not playing together again opens the door for more Avalon All-Stars shows. Vega and Sless sound real nice together.

^^^FYI, the latest info on the Avalon All-Stars is that they will no longer be playing under that name. As posted by Barry on http://www.nelsonband.com/guestbook.html on April 12 -- "Look for the same group of musicians to do some shows under a different name in the coming months."

Now THAT'S something to look forward to!!!!
