!!!
The Fillmore, SF
April 29, 2007

This show was highly recommended by deadheads and squares alike, I hadn't heard even one note of music but I was promised it would be a dancing good time.

At 3:30, I stopped by the box office to pick up tickets for a different show but asked about !!!, the guy said it probably wouldn't sell it, but it would be close. Huh. Walk up sales must have been ZERO because the show was empty, we did get a poster out of it though...

In an unusual move, I gave note taking duties to someone else, someone who could identify the songs, I was surprised to find a neatly numbered list, with complete song names and only one ? so here it is...

Setlist:

Myth Takes
All My Heros are Weirdos
Pardon my Freedom
Dear Can
New Name
Heart of Hearts
Yazrat (this is the one ?)
Must Be the Moon
Hello? Is this thing on?
Bend Over Beethoven
Me and Guiliani Down by the School Yard
Intensifieder

It was a short show, which is okay for a sunday night. Had it been a typical 'jamband' show, I would have been highly disappointed by it's shortness.

What they lacked in time was made up for with intensity. It was 90 minutes of all out ass-shaking! Watching the action on stage was a bit dizzying, 7 or 8 guys, tough to actually count because of the constant motion, coupla guitars, bass, a drummer seated at a kit, 2 more drum/percussion/dance party dudes and a singer...the additional percussion guys were all over the place, shakers and lots of little banging things. The singer is quite popular with the gay crowd, shaking his hips and waving his arms in the air, generally flailing about and acting wild.

The music made me wish I had some E...which is not something you'll hear from me often. A late night drug fueled dance party is the perfect place for these guys. Guitars? yeah, I guess there were guitars in the band, the percussion was what was really driving the boat, the other stuff faded into the background for me. At one point near the end, a couple of horn players from one of the openers came out, but again, not so much the focus.

I hope to run into these guys again in the future, not ready to go on tour though.

That must of been an early show. I saw folks with posters when I left the Kabuki at 11:15pm! I asked who was playing and they said something like cha cha cha? Whatever. I later realized it was !!!. So what exactly do you call this band?

BTW check out the SF Intl' film festival this week. Lot's of cool flicks/documentaries.

Yeah, it was an early one...but it was good for a sunday. and according to friends who have seen them before, this was actually a long set!

The name is open to your own personal whim.

Some people like chk chk chk

Some people like cha cha cha

Some people like boom boom boom

Although, you can't google !!! to find the band you need to google chk chk chk, so that's what I go with :-)
