Well I have to say I’m sorry I missed some of ya’ll at the Independent last night. Sounds like Phil and crew threw down as usual, but I am very satisfied with my evening in Santa Cruz. I am still completely elated from the show last night. Ryan was in top form to say the least, both musically and fashion wise. He was decked out in some pretty awesome plaid pants and a Celtic Frost shirt. He mentioned that this was the first gig on the tour that he was able to play the electric guitar, so it was a bit more upbeat and rockin’ than some of the previous shows on this tour. The show started a bit later than scheduled, but he made up for it with the amount of material, and the quality of the material. Opened with a screaming 10+ min. What Sin Replaces Love…ok here goes the set-list.

SET 1

What Sin Replaces Love >>
Do Not Let Me Go
Dear Chicago
Goodnight Rose
Cold Roses
Mockingbird >>
Beautiful Sorta
Bartering Lines
Magnolia Mountain

Short set Break (to fix some sound stuff) 20 min.

SET 2

Peaceful Valley >>
Trouble on Wheels
Arkham Asylum
Monsters
Games
A Kiss Before I Go
Oh My God, Whatever, Etc.
Dear John
The End
Blue Motel
Wildflowers

I sure hope that ya’ll get a chance to check out the SF or BCT show. I know some may have a bad taste in their mouth after the New Year run with Phil, but you should let that go and see one of the best song writers alive. And now I can say best performers as well. What stage presence, what A GREAT SHOW.

Some people like roller coasters, some like merry-go-rounds.

Ryan is a roller coaster and is most definitely a major league talent in a world of Triple A players. I had a ticket but I had to work so I couldn't go, but I'll be at the beautiful Herbst Theater tomorrow night and am REALLY looking forward to it.

Imagine that; a great concert in Santa Cruz. Thanks for the review!

Well Lance, We'll have to collaborate on our review of the Herbst show. I had a very unusual ticketmaster experience, and scored 2 3rd row tickets when they released a few more tickets last week. Lookin' forward to another great night...

Oh yeah, just got back from the RRE, SCI show at the Greek, and it didn't touch the performance that i saw in Santa Cruz last night.
