Peter Rowan
The Plough and Stars
SF, Ca
March 13, 2008

Nice, intimate show at a small local irish pub! Started off with Peter doing some solo tunes.

Dust Bowl Children
Tumbleweed
Panama Red>some freight train interlude>Panama Red
Land of the Navajo
Ahmed the Begger

Then Peter was joined by a Jody Stecher on mandola and a dude on upright bass who's name I don't know. At this point they played a lot of stuff I can't name...but I could name Free Mexican Airforce and Midnight Moonlight, so very typical of a Rowan setlist. He was solo again for the encore, Rainmaker.

The show was one set, 90 minutes. Just right for a thursday night. Peter seemed to be in good spirits, telling stories throughout the set. The place was full but everyone who showed up got in. Peter's always very consistent, this show was no different, very nice evening!

Rowan's been great everytime that I've caught him. I've seen him solo, with The Free Mexican Air Force, with The Ten Gallon Cats, with Crucial Reggae/Country, and in a semi-Old & in the Way Reunion (Her Pederson subbed for Jerry). Great stuff!

I think the bass player was Paul Knight.

It was definitly a nice show. Some new songs and of course some classics. Peter seemed much more animated and clear eyed.

Interesting that it was an irish pub, it was packed, they had no cocktail waitresses, just two bartenders and never a wait to get a drink.
